My Radio Debut

Talk show host Paul Spencer invited me to be his guest on Coast and County Radio’s Evening Show. On Monday 10th July, scared and excited, I took my seat beside a huge mic in the studio and we talked for two hours about stories I’ve written and stories I’ve lived. The show’s format is inspired by Desert Island Discs so I dropped much-loved music by the roadside of our discussion.

We talked about the two plays I have on this summer – The Space Between and Dark Psyche. We explored how writing is like a teacher for me – it helps me understand myself and the world around me. We chatted about how I’ve learned to handle rejection and failure – essential for a creative life – and how powerful stories can be. We roamed in and out of stories from my life including my year travelling the world, my work with Andy for SubSeaTV, and my decision to leave the corporate world.

Here’s a recording of the show. I’m so glad I plucked up the courage to tell my stories on air – it was great fun. Hope you enjoy the show!

  1. a very interesting discussion. I Like the way the professional job outlook blends with the dramatic drive and vision. ‘The Everyday is a Fable.’

    1. Thanks Stuart 🙂
Yes, I find it fascinating how all the work I’ve done connects as I look back with my storyteller’s hat on…
Glad you enjoyed the show. Thanks for listening!
