Hi, I’m Jackie Daly.
I write stories for performance on stage, screen, or audio.
I’ve written full-length plays with support from Sheffield Theatres and Stephen Joseph Theatre.
I won the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing and Script Yorkshire’s radio writing competition.
My play Mothership was showcased at Sheffield Crucible in April 2019, at the end of a year-long attachment to Sheffield Theatres writer’s group.
My play Warrior Queens was written with the support of a seed commission from Stephen Joseph Theatre and showcased there at SJT Second Stage (May 2018). It placed in the top 18% of scripts submitted to the Papatango Writing Prize.
My play Dark Psyche was staged as a script-in-hand reading by Beach Hut Theatre Company (2017).
My play The Space Between was produced by Windsor Fringe (2016) and staged as script-in-hand readings by Stephen Joseph Theatre (2017) and Script Yorkshire (2016).
My short radio play ‘Homing’ was produced by Stefan Escreet for Script Yorkshire (2019).
My poem ‘Edges’ was filmed and produced by Buglight Theatre (2020).
I’m an alumna of Playwrights One at Leeds Playhouse, was shortlisted for the OffWestEnd.com Adopt A Playwright Award, and long-listed for the Old Vic 12.
My scripts for SubSeaTV wildlife films have won the BWPAwards and been broadcast on BBC Springwatch.
I write stories of transformation and live my life that way too. From my working-class childhood in Glasgow I climbed the corporate career ladder, found it to be empty, and set off to write a new life story. I travelled the world, ran my own business, and worked in a school library while nurturing my lifelong passion for writing stories – a passion that now sits at the heart of my life.
